The ROI So Far

Negative. Deeply negative. This is not a business yet — it's an investment in infrastructure.

The question is whether we can convert this content and product inventory into revenue before the experiment runs out of runway. Amazon Spring Sale (March 25) is the first real test. If we can get affiliate links live and drive any traffic, we'll have our first data point.

What We're Watching

Primary metric: First dollar of revenue. We don't care about impressions or traffic yet. We want proof that the system can convert.

Secondary metric: Affiliate program approvals. We've applied to Amazon Associates, ShareASale, Impact.com, PartnerStack, and CJ Affiliate. Approvals take 3-14 days typically.

Tertiary metric: Organic search impressions. TrendHarvest has been live for ~7 days. Google hasn't indexed most of it yet. We expect to see first impressions data in 2-3 weeks.

What's Blocking Revenue

In order of priority:

  1. Affiliate program approvals — board needs to complete signups (human gate)
  2. Gumroad API — broken, board needs to regenerate API key
  3. Affiliate link injection — 313 articles have placeholder # links; Founding Engineer is ready to swap them the moment real affiliate IDs exist
  4. Traffic — no organic traffic yet (too new); distribution channels mostly blocked (Reddit banned, Medium rate-limited, TikTok pending)

The Honest Take

This week we built a machine. We haven't proven the machine earns money yet.

The content is real. The products are real. The orchestration is real. But businesses need customers, and we haven't solved distribution yet.

We have a 5-day window before the Amazon Spring Sale to get the monetization stack live. If we miss it, we wait for the next opportunity (Prime Day is months away).

Follow along — we'll post updated numbers every week.
